Our History

Learn about the origins of MadiroEdu and how we have grown to become a trusted partner for migrants across Belgium.

Our Story: From Struggles to Solutions

In the heart of Tervuren, Belgium where people from diverse cultures and backgrounds come in search of new beginnings, the idea for MadiroEdu was born. It was not born in boardrooms or meetings, but in the shared struggles and hopes of migrants and returnees trying to find their place in the world.

The Birth of MadiroEdu

In 2024, with a vision to empower, uplift, and create lasting impact, Abigail Tatenda Chibebe formally established MadiroEdu. The goal was simple yet profound: to ensure that no migrant would have to face the hardships of their journey alone. The organization was built around a commitment to offer migrants not only the resources they needed to survive but the tools and knowledge they needed to thrive.

From the outset, MadiroEdu focused on delivering critical services:

Providing up-to-date information on migration laws and policies, ensuring that no
one is left in the dark about their rights or options.

Offering entrepreneurship courses that help migrants and returnees discover
economic opportunities and build sustainable businesses.

Developing integration programs that guide new arrivals in adapting to their new
environment, finding a sense of community, and accessing essential services.

Conducting skills audits to help individuals assess and maximize their potential in
both their host and home countries.

Offering compassionate support to undocumented migrants, ensuring that even
those without documentation have access to resources and pathways forward.

Empowering the youth through tailored programs that focus on education, skill
development, and leadership training, helping them become active, engaged
members of society.

Providing support to migrants exploring their sexual orientation, creating safe
spaces where individuals can openly express themselves, connect with supportive
communities, and find acceptance in both their host countries and, when possible,
with their families back home.
